We believe recovery is possible, and this process of transformation starts at Dare U To Care...
"As word spread about Dare U To Care's success, the program was forced to turn away potential clients due to their inability to pay the program's bed fee (due to General Relief issues)." Founder, Mrs. Hamilton
To address the issue and assist even more men and women, the Hamiltons devised a novel and successful solution. They bought a Golden Bird fried chicken franchise. These underprivileged clients now have the opportunity to work at the restaurant and cover the bed charge while also receiving much-needed on-the-job employment training.
DUTC Golden Bird is an experience unlike any other, where you may enjoy delicious soul food, connect with vibrant wait staff, and leave knowing that your purchase is making a difference in people's lives.
In 1993, following a 17-year tenure as a daycare provider (and even longer as a foster mother), Ruth Hamilton was inspired by the Holy Spirit to not only make a personal change but also to make a positive impact on the lives of many individuals she had yet to encounter.
She witness firsthand the challenges faced by numerous mothers who were struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Mrs. Hamilton felt a calling from the Lord to be a part of the solution for these overlooked and underserved women.
With the support of her husband, Thee Ron Hamilton, a retired local postal supervisor, the Hamiltons bought their first facility for the Dare U To Care program in South Central. The program received its license from the state of California in 1995 and its certification in 1998. Despite facing daunting odds, the Hamiltons, through Dare U To Care, have successfully graduated over 1000 individuals from the program, thanks to God's grace.
The seeds of trust that the Hamiltons planted and the hard work they put into nurturing them have not been in vain. The impact of their efforts will forever be remembered by the thousands of lives they have changed.
